PURPOSE:To enhance the scanning line density of ultrasonic beam and to obtain an ultrasonic image having good resolving power by small-sized inexpensive constitution by projecting an ultrasonic wave by a selected ultrasonic vibrator group and receiving the reflected wave thereof by an ultrasonic vibrator group of other vibrator array shifted by a specific distance in a row direction. CONSTITUTION:A vibrator array group 10 is constituted of three vibrator arrays 11-13. The ultrasonic vibrators 11-1, 11-2...; 12-1, 12-2...; 13-1, 13-2... constituting the vibrator arrays 11-13 are arranged at the same pitch (d) and those vibrator arrays 11-13 are arranged in three rows so as to be shifted by d/3 to constitute the vibrator array group 10. For example, three ultrasonic vibrators adjacent to each other in the low direction are selected as one ultrasonic vibrator group and the transmission/reception of an ultrasonic wave is performed by the selected certain ultrasonic vibrator group and the ultrasonic wave is projected thereby while the reflected wave thereof is received by selecting the ultrasonic vibrator group of the other ultrasonic arrays shifted by d/3 in the row direction. The number of the vibrator arrays and the number of the ultrasonic vibrators to be selected are not limited to three and can be set to several ones. |
