PURPOSE: To ensure the strength of a combustion chamber by integrally casting a tubular chamber for accommodating an injection nozzle with valve channels in a cooling-fluid space, providing a supporting strut with ribs towards adjacent combustion chambers and connecting a transverse string to the guide housings. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder head 1 casts a tubular chamber 16 extending for receiving a spark plug, an injection nozzle and an injection nozzle with a prechamber integrally with valve channels 17 to 20 in a cooling-fluid space 8; connects two guide housings 35 to 38 in the manner of spectacles having two guide bores for receiving cup tappets via a transverse string intersecting combustion chamber portions 10; and further connects a cylinder head top 7 and a bottom 2 by supporting columns 23, 24, 27, 28 and a support strut 26. Further, ribs 32, 34 projecting to the combustion portion 10 adjacent to the supporting strut 26 are provided, and the transverse string is connected to the longitudinal direction of the cylinder head l only by the guide housings 35 to 38. Therefore, an optimum strength can be ensured even for a combustion chamber which is formed comparatively flat.
