At least one groove of screw thread form is machined into the basic body of the opener roll consisting of light metal, for the subsequent reception of at least one steel saw-tooth wire. Then at least the groove is oxidised, next the oxide skin of the basic body including the oxide skin of the groove is removed and the basic body is provided with a coating of heavy metal or ferro-magnetic metal. Thereupon the saw-tooth wire, at least one, is laid into the groove, of screw thread form and made fast in the groove. Finally the opener roll is cleaned and coated in an electrolyte bath with a firmly adhering layer of amorphous material, which then effects a wear protection and/or corrosion protection of the opener roll. |
