<p>PURPOSE:To uniform the orientation of liquid crystal without breaking the liquid crystal cell by moving the liquid crystal cell and heating the liquid crystal in the liquid crystal cell to temperature above its N-I point. CONSTITUTION:While a roller 2 is shifted in contact position on the liquid crystal cell 10 continuously from one end side of the liquid crystal cell 10 to the other end side by moving the liquid crystal cell 10, the liquid crystal in the liquid crystal cell 10 is heated with the heat of the roller 2 to the temperature above its N-I point. The liquid crystal in the cell 10 is heated to the temperature above the N-I point in facing the roller 2 and has an isotropic phase and the temperature falls after the liquid crystal passes the position of the roller 2, so that the liquid crystal is put back to a nematic phase and oriented with the orienting force of an orienting film. Consequently, the orientation of the liquid crystal can be uniformed and a raise in the cell internal pressure is slight, so the liquid crystal cell is not broken.</p> |
