<p>PURPOSE:To move one shot of laser pulse light back and forth once in an optical fiber to reduce the time required for measurement by half and to approximate the measurement to the real time measurement by providing a reflecting film to the terminal of the fiber to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:The total reflecting film 15 is provided to the terminal of the fiber 11 to be inspected. Incident light 12 is scattered by the constituting material of the optical fiber 11 in the forward path and generates scattered light 13. The backward scattered light and the Raman scattered light contained in the scattered light 13 are a scattering component 14 to be detected. The same holds true of the backward path; the scattering component 14 to be detected is returned by the total reflecting film 15. The detection of the scattered light is executed twice with one light emission period in this way and, therefore, the total measurement time is reduced by half.</p> |
