PURPOSE:To suppress surge current when electrical machinery and apparatus are started by connecting a high temperature superconductor to at least one point in a current path for a machine which increases/decreases the voltage of electrical energy or converting the electrical energy into another energy. CONSTITUTION:A high temperature superconductor 50 is connected to at least one point of the current path for a transformer which boosts/drops the voltage of electrical energy, a motor which converts the electrical energy into mechanical energy or a heater which converts the electrical energy into thermal energy. The drawing represents a three-phase transformer, where high temperature superconductors 50 are connected respectively with the input terminal of U-W phases and such high temperature superconductor as the critical current level thereof lays between the normal current level and the maximum starting surge current level is selected. By such arrangement, surge current is suppressed and trouble of electrical machinery and apparatus due to surge current can be prevented. |
