HIGH STRENGTH NUCLEAR FUEL GRID

The grid (10) for nuclear fuel plants in earthquake zones is formed by intersecting slotted strips (14) to form an array of rows and columns. They form cells (20) each of which holds a fuel cartridge (22). The strips are cut at regular intervals to form intersecting slots, and at least half of the intersecting points of the strips are welded for providing strengthened grids. The flow of cooling medium through each cell is thus improved.
