PURPOSE:To improve the safety of both a terminal and a portable card and the safety of a system by mutually executing confirmation between the terminal and the portable card based on secret information. CONSTITUTION:When a portable card 3 is linked to a terminal 2 by a linking means 2-40 which cannot be monitored, the information to be compared of the identification signal of the device 2 is supplied to the card 3 and compared with comparing information 3-10b in a comparator 3-30. Further, compared result information 3-10c is stored, and when the compared two pieces of information coincide with each other, secret information 3-10a is supplied to the device 2, the above-mentioned information to be compared is compared with the secret information 3-10a in the same manner as above, and the propriety of the card 3 is confirmed when the compared two pieces of information coincide with each other. In the above-mentioned composition, in which the decoding of the possibility of the coincidence of the information by the card itself and that by the terminal itself become impossible, and the above-mentioned possibilities are mutually confirmed between the card and the terminal based on the secret information, the safety of both the terminal and the portable card and the safety of the system can be heightened. |
