发明名称 MANUFACTURE OF ELECTROLYTE RETAINING MATRIX FOR FUEL CELL
摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the permeability and retainability of electrolyte by mixing together and kneading a plastitizer, binder agent, and electrolyte retainer consisting of silicon and silicon carbide, thereupon performing the molding process, and removing the plastitizer from the molding by means of extraction of solvent. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte retaining matrix uses electrolyte retaining agent which is a granular admixture containing silicon carbide and silicon excellent in affinity with electrolyte such as phosphoric acid, and therein no baking process is applied. As the surface of this electrolyte retaining agent is not covered with a binder agent fibrillated in the mixing and kneading process, the electrolyte is provided with enhanced permeability and retainability. Because no baking process is applied, the electrolyte retaining matrix has ample flexibility. In case therefore an electrolyte retaining matrix retaining electrolyte such as phosphoric acid is laminated between a pair of gas diffusion electrodes followed by application of a surface pressure, the contact of electrode with the electrolyte retaining matrix is made closer, and the ohm loss based on the contact resistance can be sunk.
