Installation for recovering an discharging bulk materials, comprising at least one elongate closed caisson 3 installed in a fixed position and capable of being supplied with bulk material, the said caisson being equipped with a door 11 at the front end and with a shield piece 5 which is movable in longitudinal translation, and at least one elongate closed caisson 13, mounted on a vehicle 14, equipped with a door 19 at the rear end at having a cross-section at least equal to that of the fixed caisson. The movable caisson 13 preferably also includes a longitudinally movable shield piece 15. Application: to the recovery and discharge of refuse of all types, for example domestic rubbish, residue from the incineration of domestic rubbish, etc. <IMAGE>
