Motor vehicle with manual gearshift transmission. In order to avoid a rigid coupling of the engine of the motor vehicle to its driven wheels by way of the manual shift transmission and hence unfavourable reactions in braking of the motor vehicle and in load reversals, a shiftable and controllable clutch is inserted into the input shaft of the shift transmission, disengagement of which can be controlled in the gearshift sequences and which is adjustable in its transmission torque as a function of the output speed of the manual shift transmission or the speed of a vehicle part driven thereby. If, for example for design reasons, the drive torque of the manual shift transmission cannot be introduced by way of the shiftable and controllable clutch, the shiftable and controllable clutch can be bypassed by a freewheel mechanism locking in the drive direction of the input shaft.
