A safe and reliable detonating device for the propellant charge of a firing device has an electrical detonator (24) in a rotary piston (19) which can rotate about an axis running radially with respect to the firing tube (barrel) (2) of the firing device. The rotary piston (19) is provided with a radial hole (27) for the detonation gases of the detonated detonator to emerge through. Furthermore, an additional charge container (4) is provided, which is provided with blow-out openings (7) into the propellant-charge chamber (5) and has an axial hole (17) on the side facing the rotary piston (19).
