A transport installation for rail-mounted haulage cars comprises a driver car (1) which can be driven back and forth between the two rails (2), arranged on a foundation, for the haulage cars along a longitudinal guide (4) parallel to the rails (2) by means of a cable drive (3) and is provided with a driver rod (5) for engaging on the axles (6) of the haulage cars. The cable drive (3) is formed, in this arrangement, from an endlessly guided traction cable drivable, at its one deflection end (7) by a drive motor (8). For an underfloor configuration which can be driven over by trackless vehicles, in particular lorries, the rails (2) are fastened on the outside on a base frame (9) mounted on the foundation so that their top surfaces (10) essentially extend the floor level (11), while the longitudinal guide (4) comprises a box profile which is arranged between the rails and in the base frame (9) on the foundation and receives the driver car (1) and the upper side (12) of which is arranged at floor level (11) and essentially fills the surface situated between the top surfaces (10) of the two rails (2) apart from a longitudinal slot (13) for the driver rod (5) and wheel-flange slots adjacent to the rails (2). <IMAGE>
