PURPOSE:To prolong the life of the above wire and to decrease replacement frequencies by coating the outside surface of a specific strand with a metallic film consisting of a material selected from Ni, Au, Ag, and Pt. CONSTITUTION:The extremely fine wire adopted for the strand 3 has excellent cold workability and an extremely fine wire of <=100mum wire diameter is easily and surely obtainable from said wire by adequately selecting the working of the wire rod. In addition, the working cells of 5-100Angstrom generated by the strong working of cold drawing are arranged in a fiber state in one direction and form the fine fibrous metallic structure of 50-1,000Angstrom inter-fiber distance. The outside surface of the extremely fine wire is coated with the metallic film consisting of the material selected from Ni, Au, Ag, and Pt. The line of maintaining the uniform discharge is prolonged in this way and the replacement frequencies are eventually decreased.
