PURPOSE:To accurately measure the thickness of paper sheets, etc., without being influenced by the fluctuation of the characteristics of an element used for the detection by correcting measuring data by referring to correction data stored in a storing means when the thickness of the paper sheets, etc., is actually measured. CONSTITUTION:The difference between the ideal conversional characteristics of the 2nd converting means (for example, a V/F converter) and the actual conversional characteristics of the 2nd converting means 7 incorporated in this detector is previously stored in a storing means 19 as correction data. When paper sheets are fed and their thickness is detected, the correction data are read out from the storing means 10 and the corresponding thickness detecting output is corrected by using the correction data. Therefore, the thickness of paper sheets, etc., can be detected accurately without being influenced by the fluctuation of characteristics of the element used for the detection. |
