A high security pin tumbler lock in which at least the rear face of the actuating cylinder or the front face of the tumbler cylinder has several indents, each one of which encloses an axial hole in the actuator or tumbler in order to provide, at the base of the indent, a false locking plane, while the crest of the portion of the indent of the tumbler cylinder and the actuating cylinder forms a plane that rigidly supports two relatively thin disks which form the true locking plane. The disks include annularly spaced holes that correspond with the holes in the tumbler and actuating cylinders. Some of the actuator and tumbler pins also have annular grooves that, in combination with the existing indents in the shaft and tumbler cylinder, accentuate the effect of false sensing of the locking plane in various positions of the pins, that project inwards, making it extremely difficult to determine when an actual tumbler pin has located itself precisely in the locking plane. <IMAGE>
