This device comprises: - a transformer T including at least one primary winding EP to which, during operation, the alternating voltage to be regulated is applied, and at least one secondary winding ES delivering at least one regulated alternating voltage, one at least of the said windings being subdivided into several elementary windings EP1, EP2, EP3, - a source 4 of reference voltage(s), - means 5-6 of comparing the reference voltage with a voltage reflecting the regulated alternating voltage, and - means of electronic commutation C1, C2, C3 connected to the said elementary windings EP1, EP2, EP3 and controlled selectively as a function of the result of the said comparison in order to modify the transformation ratio of the said transformer by cutting the said elementary windings into and out of circuit. Application to the regulation of the supply voltage for electrical appliances, especially for the heating of filaments of electron tubes. <IMAGE>
