In the case of a sleeping bag, consisting of an upper and a lower cloth layer (8A, 8B; 9A, 9B; 10A, 10B) with joining strips (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 6A, 6B, 7A, 7B), which can be completely separated in the sense of a division into two corresponding joining-strip halves, at both lateral longitudinal edges of the sleeping bag for use either as an individual sleeping bag or for combination with a second sleeping bag to form a double sleeping bag, the joining-strip halves on the upper and on the lower cloth layer in each case corresponding to one another and being arranged in each case on the same sections of the edges of the upper and lower cloth layers, a greatest possible versatility is provided in that each of the joining-strip halves (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) extends exclusively along in each case one longitudinal edge of the sleeping bag and in that a transverse edge joining the longitudinal-edge ends to the foot end of the sleeping bag is open, closed or can be closed and opened. <IMAGE>
