A secure setting for gems (1), which setting can be produced with little expenditure and can be fixed in an opening (2) of a carrier (3), has a band (4) which surrounds the gem (1) and has, as holding elements for the carrier (3), outwardly bent holding tongues (6) and a section (5) extending outwards. In this case, the outwardly extending section (5) bears against one side of the carrier (3) whereas the holding tongues (6) can be engaged on the other side of the carrier.
