PURPOSE: To obtain an absorbent wound dressing having good swelling property and high liquid holding property by mixing each specified wt.% of elastomeric small diameter fibers, absorbent staples or granules wicking staples, bulked staples to produce the dressing. CONSTITUTION: An elastomeric web is produced by mixing 5 to 20 wt.% of melt-blown small diameter fibers composed of polyurethane elastomers, polyester elastomers, polyamide elastomers, A-B-A block copolymers with A and B being styrene blocks and elastomeric intermediate blocks, respectively, or combination of these, 10 to 35 wt.% of absorbent staples having about 1000% absorptivity, or 5 to 20 wt.% of absorbent granules, 30 to 60 wt.% of wicking staples such as cotton, and 20 to 30 wt.% of crimped staples to be dispersed in the matrix. |
