PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for steam reforming of hydrocarbon having high catalytic activity at low temp. and a long service life by supporting Ru on a zirconia carrier. CONSTITUTION:Ru and/or Rh as an active metal is supported on a zirconia carrier and a metallic element such as Ni, La or Pr as a promoter is further supported to obtain a catalyst by which hydrocarbon is allowed to react with steam to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The catalyst has high activity at a reaction temp. below 500 deg.C, enables steam reforming in a low steam-carbon ratio and also has a long service life. |
