PURPOSE:To obtain a picture image having high quality by compensating reflection density data regarding the discharge of ink in response to the change rate of the reflection density of the picture image by the alteration of the quantity of ink given and the total amount of ink given per one picture element. CONSTITUTION:Picture image data stored in R, G, B memories 11, 12, 13 are turned into reflection density values C, M, Y in a Log ROM 14, and color- compensated by a mask ROM 15, and C', M' and Y' and a shading signal are output. The color-compensated reflection density values C', Y' are converted respectively into voltage values by OD-V ROMs 31, 33, voltage Vc, Vy is added by an adder 34, and the added result Vcy is input to an OD-value compensating means 20. The shading signal, the color-compensated reflection density value M' and the output signal of the adder 34 are input to the OD-value compensating means 20, a compensating value M'' is output on the basis of these information, and the compensating value M'' is converted into a voltage value. Accordingly, voltage values Vc, Vm, Vy are transmitted over a head driver 40, and the head is driven, and ink is discharged. |
