PURPOSE:To obtain an electronic material having excellent corrosion resistance, high conductivity, etc., and suitable for a battery electrode, etc., by controlling the amount of the portion in a state of a benzoimide-ammonium salt in a polyaniline and the amount of the portion in a state of a quinoid-diimine. CONSTITUTION:The amount of the portion of formula I (benzoimide-ammonium salt state) in a polyaniline and the amount of the portion of formula II (quinoid- diimine state) are controlled so that they may be 7mol% or below and 25mol% or below, respectively. For instance, this control is performed by oxidatively coupling aniline in, for example, an acidic atmosphere, immersing the obtained polymer in an aqueous acid solution of, e.g., hydrazine hydrochloride and treating it with hydrazine. In addition to the above states, a polyaniline has a state of formula III (dope-semiquinone radical state), etc., and the composition of these states can be determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, an electrochemical process or the like. |
