In a radar transmission of pulses is effected by shock-exciting a part capable of natural oscillation with D.C. pulses. Pulse durations equivalent to 10 cms. are stated to be achieved. In one embodiment the said part is an oscillatory circuit 18 excited from an A.C. source 10 in association with a tunnel diode 14. In other embodiments the said part is a conductive portion of the aerial feeder, Fig. 5 (not shown), or an exponential strip conductor aerial, Fig. 6 (not shown). Target direction is given by measuring echo time at fixed, spaced receivers, Fig. 8 (not shown).</p> |
