DIAGNOSTIC EXECUTION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To decrease the number of units exchangeable at a job site which are inaccurately included in the maintenance request numbers and to reduce the maintenance cost by adding only the rule that is necessary for checking an optional selection device regardless of its position in a system constitution into an area rule base. CONSTITUTION: A system checkout shell 10 shows a menu to a user and acquires the information on the type of check to be carried out. Then the shell 10 calls out an inference mechanism 18 as a subroutine and sends a list of value to be used for control of the inference process to the mechanism 18. The mechanism 18 reads the contents of a rule base 17 and collects evidence by performing the inquiry and execution of a processing procedure. The list includes a target that shows a failure parts based on the execution result of a proper area rule base included in the base 17. Then the list is sent back to the system checkout program 10. As a result, a problem is reported to a maintenance organization based on the maintenance request number of a target text. Then the failure parts is replaced with the nondefective one.
