A drive unit for equipment at risk of overload, with an epicyclic gear unit and a multiple-disc clutch to which pressure medium can be admitted and which has slip monitoring or pressure monitoring. The multiple-disc clutch is arranged concentrically on an imaginary extension of the sun-gear axis of the epicyclic gear unit and transmits the supporting moment of the sun gear to the gear casing. The drive motor works via an interposed auxiliary gear unit on the planet-gear carrier or the ring gear.
