A description is given of a device for adjusting the bearing force of a windscreen wiper, comprising a spring, an operating lever which is connected to the lower end of the spring, an arm head for the pivotable mounting of the upper end of this lever, an arm element which is provided at the lower end of the lever, and a cam element. The arm element is supported on the cam element which can be rotated by a motor in order to change the adjustment of the direction of action of the spring against the window surface. The cam element has a cam surface which is designed in such a manner that the bearing position of the arm element is changed, by rotating the cam element, from a section of large diameter via a stepped section to a section of small diameter.
