A lacquer-sludge separator consists of a dirty-water container (1) with a submerged wall (3) located on the inflow side (2), with an oblique surface (5) projecting into the dirty-water collecting tank (4), and with a scraper conveyor (K), assigned to the oblique surface (5), as a member for discharging the lacquer sludge to a lacquer-sludge collecting container (6). The scraper conveyor is an elastic wiper strip (9) which is mounted on a transverse yoke (12) and which is moved via a cylinder/piston unit (7, 8) in the direction of advance (V) through the water surface (WO) and over the oblique surface (5) as far as the lacquer-sludge container (6). During the return stroke (VR), the guide rollers (13) of the transverse yoke (12) run over the rocker (11), that is to say the wiper strip (9) moves above the water surface (WO). <IMAGE>
