METHOD OF EXTRACTING PENTAERYTHRYL-TETRAKIS- 3-(3,5-DITERT. BUTYL-4-OXYPHENYL)PROPIONATE FROM THE REACTION MASS OBTAINED DURING SYNTHESIS OF SAID PRODUCT

A method of extracting pentaerythryl-tetrakis-[3-(3,5-ditert.-butyl-4-oxyphenyl)propionate] from the reaction mass obtained during the synthesis of said product by means of reetherification of methyl ether 3-(3,5-ditert. butyl-4-oxyphenyl) propionic acid by pentaerythrite in the presence of an alkaline catalyst, and consisting of the desired product, initial non-reacted reagents, secondary reaction products, resinous oxidation products and residues of the alkaline catalyst, provides for treating the reaction mass with cyclohexane (the volume ratio between the reaction mass and the cyclohexane being 1:1.2-2) at a reaction mass temperature of 100-120 DEG C, separating by filtration the initial non-reacted pentaerythrite and the residues of the alkaline catalyst at a temperature of 60-75 DEG C, thus obtaining the cyclohexane solution of this desired product, the initial non-reacted methyl ether, secondary reaction products and the resinous oxidation products. The cyclohexane solution is cooled to a temperature of 15-20 DEG C, so as to obtain a crystalline sediment of a combination of the desired product occlusions with the cyclohexane. The sediment is separated by filtration and dissolved in normally structured hydrocarbons at a temperature of 45-75 DEG C and at a weight ratio between the sediment and the hydrocarbons equal to 1:1-2, respectively, the combination with occlusions being decomposed and the desired product being thus obtained. The desired product is extracted by crystallization from said hydrocarbons at 15-20 DEG C. The desired product is a highly effective non-toxic antioxidant for polymer materials.
