PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of reproduction of information by giving a pre-load in the same direction as the tension of a belt through a spring to the side face of an outer race of a bearing at the free side so as to avoid the tilt direction of a spindle hub shaft from being changed due to shock or vibration and secular change of the tension of the belt. CONSTITUTION:A spring 17 gives a pressing force to the side face of a stator side bearing 6 and its direction is a direction at a right angle to the shaft 4, so-called in a radial direction and in the same direction as that of the pulley 9 tensed by a drive motor via a belt. Thus, since the spring 17 gives a pressing force to the bearing 6 at the free side in the direction of the drive motor torque at all times, the tilt direction of the spindle hub 3 is always constant and even with external shock or vibration or secular change in the belt tension, the tilt direction is kept unchanged. Thus, the positioning error of the magnetic head in the recording and reproduction of information is prevented to obtain an excellent reproduction characteristic and the magnetic disk device with excellent reliability is obtained.
