OPTICAL FIBER CORE WITH CONNECTOR

PURPOSE:To suppress an increase in transmission loss and to prevent a core from projecting from a clad made of fluororesin by specifying the Shore D hardness of the clad and connecting an optical fiber core to the connector by caulking. CONSTITUTION:The Shore D hardness of the clad made of the fluororesin is set to 20-30 and its optical core is connected by caulking to to the connector. The hardness of the clad 2 needs to be suppressed within a certain proper range so as to satisfy the projection quantity 10 of the core 1 and the coupling loss by the connector. When the Shore D hardness of the clad 2 can be suppressed within a range of 25+ or -5, i.e. 20-30 (about 70-80 in terms of Shore A hardness), the coupling loss by the connector is reduced below 1.2dB and the projection quantity is reduced below 3mum under a -30 to 70 deg.C and 16-time heat cycle test.
