摘要 PURPOSE:To separate a rhodium catalyst in an active state and recirculate the separated catalyst for use, by adding a trivalent organic phosphorus compound to a hydroformylation reaction solution obtained in the presence of a catalyst consisting of Rh and the above-mentioned organic phosphorus compound, and oxidizing the resultant undistilled portion containing the Rh. CONSTITUTION:An olefinic compound is reacted with water gas in a catalytic solution containing rhodium and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound, e.g. an arylphosphine oxide or alkylphosphite oxide, to give a hydroformylation reaction solution. A trivalent organic phosphorus compound in an amount of 1-20 P atoms based on one Rh atom in the solution is then added thereto, and the resultant mixture is distilled and separated into an undistilled portion consisting of a high-boiling fraction containing Rh and a distillate. The above-mentioned undistilled portion discharged as the bottom residue is oxidized (usually by blowing air under atmospheric pressure) to convert the trivalent organic phosphorus compound into an oxide, which is used as a catalytic solution for the hydroformylation process. The above-mentioned distillation carried out in the presence of oxygen provides the simultaneous oxidation, and the undistilled portion is usable directly as the catalytic solution.
