PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and noise emitting characteristics of a pneumatic tire by lessening to a prespecified depth each depth of a narrow, main groove running in the circumferential direction in a shoulder pattern of the tire and of an auxiliary groove connecting a wide, main groove situated on the outermost side of the shoulder part and a ground-touching line of the tire. CONSTITUTION:In a tire provided with a wide groove 1, which is situated on the outermost side of a tire tread surface, at least one, narrow main groove 2 located between the main tire 1 and a tire-touching line E, and auxiliary grooves 3 and 4, which cross this main groove 2 in order to connect the wide main groove 1 and the ground-touching line E, depth of a part of each groove 2, 3, 4 is lessened within the range as prescribed by the following expressions. In the expressions, g1 is the length between the main grooves 1 and 2: g2 is the length between the main groove 2 and the ground-touching line E: f1 and f2 are the length of shallowed, auxiliary grooves 3 and 4: a and c are the depth of the main grooves 1 and 2: b1 and b2 are the depth of the shallowed, auxiliary grooves 3 and 4, respectively. In addition, the following conditions hold; 0.1g1<f1<0.35g1, 0.1g2<f2<0.35g2, 0.40a<=b1<=0.85a, 0.40a<b2<0.85a and 0.40a<c<=0.85a. |
