A sun-shading roof, which can be rolled up, for winter gardens or the like has a screen (16) which can be drawn off from a winding shaft (10) by means of flexible pulling members (26) which act on an end bar (18), guided in stationary guides (20), and extend, via deflection members (28) arranged at the end of the pull-out stretch, to winding elements coupled to the winding shaft (10). A bracing device for compensating the differences in the effect of diameters of the winding shaft (10) and of the winding elements is formed by at least one bracing roll (30) which can move perpendicularly with respect to its axis counter to a bracing force and over which the screen (16) is guided directly after the winding shaft (10). In this arrangement, the bracing device is expediently arranged, together with the winding shaft (10) and the winding elements, in a protective casing (12). <IMAGE>
