Intended for boxes for storing trawl lines, the invention relates to a container 24 comprising longitudinal grooves 26 allowing the locking of rods 46 used as axes of rotation for cases 45 intended for receiving the hook 8 baited with live bait 9. The method consists in threading the head of the first live bait 9 in cases of unit volumes 45 positioned ready for threading, and inclined backwards; it has the head immersed in water communicating through the lower hole 48 with the water flowing in the container 24 through the inlet 49. During threading, the container 24 is emptied through the orifice 49 and thus all the unit volumes 45 are emptied through each hole 48, decreasing the inertial forces when the traction of the leader 10 pivots the unit volume 45 forwards, avoiding any tangling when the baited hook 8 exits. The pivoting gives the bait moderate acceleration without shocks, preserving its particularly tenuous life. <IMAGE>
