1. A gynaecological instrument primarily for artificial insemination or the veterinary treatment of animals, such as pigs, of the type comprising a catheter consisting of a protective outer sleeve (1) serving as a casing for a pipe (2) which is for the transfer of a substance and is capable of moving axially in relation to the sleeve and within the latter, and means for supplying semen, wherein the sleeve (1) comprises a projecting tubular nozzle (3) passed through by the transfer pipe (2) and having, at its free end, an opening (6) for the passage of said transfer pipe (2), this nozzle serving to axially immobilize said sleeve in the cervix of the animal ; an instrument characterized in that the nozzle is flexible and its opening (6) for through-passage has a smaller cross-section than the pipe (2) in order to grip the latter, to act as a brake thereon and to ensure that it is immobilized with regard to the nozzle, and the introductive end of the transfer pipe (2) is provided with a spherical head (4) blocking its cross-section, communication between the internal channel of the transfer pipe and the exterior being effected by at least one lateral opening (5) set back from the spherical head, said pipe (2) being movable between two positions which correspond respectively to two positions of the head (4) in relation to the projecting nozzle, one blocking position where it closes the opening (6) for passage of the transfer pipe (2), the other, furthest position, being where it is remote from this opening (6) in order to permit the ejection of the substance into the uterine cavity, and in that the said blocking position and furthest position as well as an intermediate projecting position are indicated by a respective guide mark borne by the pipe (2) ; and in that the said sleeve (1) is opaque and has a thickness of several tenths of a millimeter. |
