The invention relates to a device for protecting parts of a building, in particular of a window, against the action of an explosion. It is composed of at least one impact-resistant and pressure-absorbing protection body, which can assume an effective operating position which covers the part and a non-effective operating position which releases the part, and of a control device which defines the operating position of the protection body and has a sensor which serves as trigger for the control device, e.g. a pressure sensor, light sensor or sound sensor, by means of which the protection body can be adjusted from its non-effective operating position into its effective operating position within a period of time which is smaller than the period of time within which the pressure wave or sound wave passes from the sensor to the protection body.
