<p>Process for the regiospecific sulfonation of 2-amino-naphthalenes substituted in the 5- or 7-position by a fibre-reactive VS-group, the novel 5-sulfo-substituted fiber-reactive 2-amino-naphthalene, and fibre-reactive azo dyes thereof. Acylamino-naphthalene and amino-naphthalene compounds of the general formula (1) <CHEM> wherein: R is hydrogen or a group of the general formula -CO-R min in which R min is an alkyl, aryl or substituted alkyl or substituted aryl group, X is a group of the formula -CH2-CH2-Z , in which Z is an organic or inorganic substituent capable of being split off by means of an alkaline agent, and the sulfo group -SO3H is in the 7-position if the group X-SO2- is in the 5-position, or the sulfo group is in the 5-position if the group X-SO2- is in the 7-position, are regiospecifically prepared by reacting a 2-acylamino naphthalene compound of the general formula (2) <CHEM> in which R min is defined as above, X<1> has one of the meanings of X or is the beta -hydroxyethyl group, and the group X<1>-SO2- is in the 5- or 7-position, with a sulfonation agent, and, if desired to form a compound of formula (1) in which R is hydrogen, the compound of formula (1) in which R min is a group of the formula -CO-R min , is hydrolyzed by diluting with water to a 85 to 100 % sulfuric acid solution and heating at a temperature between 80 to 120 DEG C. The compound of formula <CHEM> wherein: M is hydrogen or an alkali metal, R is hydrogen or a group of the general formula -CO-R min in which R min is an alkyl, aryl or substituted alkyl or substituted aryl group, and X<2> is the vinyl group or a group of the formula -CH2-CH2-Z , in which Z is an organic or inorganic substituent capable of being split off by means of an alkaline agent is novel in the art. The compounds of formula (1), in which R is hydrogen, are used as a diazo component to prepare novel fibre-reactive azo dyestuffs, which are described in the specification, suitable for dyeing, for example, cotton in fast shades.</p> |
