1,080,905. Making rotors and rollers. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Dec. 9, 1964 [Dec. 10, 1963], No. 50038/64. Heading B3A. [Also in Division B8] In a method of making a metallic object, such as the rotor of an electrical machine, which has an outer cylindrical casing surrounding a solid core such that there is a closed space therebetween, a solidifiable liquid is fed to the space under pressure and the pressure is maintained until the liquid has solidified to an extent at which it can itself maintain the pressure substantially unchanged. The outer casing may be made from a steel band wound around the core or from glass fibre threads impregnated with plastic and in its unloaded state it should preferably be reduced in diameter at the centre so as to have a cylindrical shape when stressed. |
