PURPOSE:To position optical fibers with high accuracy and to obtain high reliability by arraying the optical fibers at specific positions by using silicon materials as molds, and charging a molding material in the mold. CONSTITUTION:The silicon materials are used as a top mold 8 and a bottom mold 1, the optical fibers 5 are arranged at the specific positions by the molds 1 and 8, and the molding material is charged in the molds 1 and 8 to mold an optical fiber array. Thus, the optical fiber array is made of the molding material, so any brittle fracture which is caused when the silicon material itself is used for a connector end surface is not caused. Consequently, the optical fibers can be positioned with high accuracy and the reliability of the optical fiber array can be improved. |
