1,082,587. Gearing for converting rotary motion into reciprocating motion; linkwork. G. JESSE. March 8, 1966 [March 10, 1965], No. 10133/66. Headings F2K and F2Q. Rotation of an input shaft 3 is converted into reciprocation of an output member 21 along fixed guides 24 and the amplitude of reciprocation may be varied by rotation of a hand wheel 41. A worm-wheel 2 meshes a worm 1 on shaft 3 and has an eccentric bore 8 in which a member 9 is rotatably mounted. A cylindrical member 14 has a lower extension 13, which is pinned in an eccentric bore 12 of the member 9, and an upper offset cylindrical member 27 integral therewith. The members 14 and 27 are adapted to reciprocate in grooves 18, 28 located at right-angles in a member 9, the angular location of which may be varied by hand wheel 41. The member 14 is also located in a rectangular slot 26 in the member 21. When the groove 18 is disposed parallel to the guides 24, the maximum stroke is achieved, and as the member 19 is rotated through 90 degrees, the stroke is diminished gradually to zero. In a modification, a pin 56, Fig. 4 (not shown), passes through members 2, 14 and 27. |
