Method and device for bringing articulators of different design into hinge axis and centric conformity with the possibibilty of exchanging jaw models

The invention relates to a method and a device for standardising non-identical articulators in terms of hinge axis and centric arrangement with the option to exchange jaw models. Model carriers which are identical and thus suitable for transfer of the jaw model, or splitcast plates in articulators of different design are , for bringing into hinge-axis conformity, releasably fixed via a connecting medium with a specific assembly plate on the respective maxillary arm of the articulator, so as to ensure a conforming relationship of their spatial position to the respective hinge axis in all adjusted articulators. This is achieved in that the position of the maxillary splitcast plate, which is installed arbitrarily but preferably with an optimised relation to the hinge axis, is scanned by a device which is compatible with the articulator, starting from a starting articulator, and is approximated to the articulators to be brought into hinge axis conformity, by horizontal and vertical movements. Centric conformity is achieved by identical spatial coordination of a second, preferably identical, splitcast plate, using a so-called centric block with the aid of which correct connection of the mandibular assembly plate of the respective articulator is effected via the connecting medium. <IMAGE>
