There is described a method for producing boards from a mixture of hydration water-containing, cellulose- and/or lignocellulose-containing fibres, particles or the like and a hydraulic binder in the form of gypsum, cement or the like, in which method all of the constituents are mixed in free fall in the region of developing spreading parabolas, and a further homogenisation of the mixture is then carried out by means of mixing and dissolving processes, so that the already-homogeneous mixture is fed in the form of a falling flow to a gravity or air spreading unit to form the shaped mat. Subsequently, the mat is passed through a continuously operating press, the press-roll pair of which is arranged upstream and presses the water required for the curing process out of the wood particles.
