Hot water from outer and inner annular jackets 2, 3, respectively, surrounding a combustion chamber 4 of a boiler for central heating, is used to heat tap water in a domestic hot water heater 11, which is mounted above the boiler 1 and is surrounded b'y a boiler water heating jacket 14 and penetrated by boiler water heating tubes 15. The boiler water from the jackets 2, 3 rises through a siphon 17 and a riser tube 16 to the heating jacket 114 and after cooling returns to the bottom of the boiler 1 through a return pipe 24 containing a circulating pump 25 and a non-return valve 29. When the requisite tap water temperature in heater 11 has been reached, thermostat 28 through a relay switch 27 stops the pump 25, which in turn causes closure of valve 29 to prevent further circulation of the boiler water through the heater 11 which would cause excess heating of the tap water. Single pipe circulation in the riser 16 is prevented by the siphon trap 17. The burner 5 is controlled by a boiler water thermostat (not shown), in the outer jacket 2.</p> |
