PURPOSE:To obtain the satisfactory picture output even to such a picture where the halftone and the highly fine signals are mixed by performing an averaging process in a 1st cycle showing the gradation information. CONSTITUTION:Only the gradation information is extracted out of the picture signals recorded into a picture memory 103 with use of the original picture signal that has a 1st cycle structure and shows a gradation picture. Then the expansion/reduction processing is applied to the signal where the cycle structure is excluded and this signal is binarized by the re-dither transformation processing. Thus a 1st picture signal is obtained. At the same time, the picture data is sampled out of the memory 103 by a 1st cycle sampling circuit 107 and this sampling signal is subtracted by an averaged signal. This subtracted signal is binarized and undergoes a 2nd expansion/reduction processing. Thus a 2nd picture signal is obtained. The 1st and 2nd picture signals are synthesized by a synthesizing circuit 112 and outputted via a printer 113. In such a way, both a halftone and a highly fine picture can be obtained satisfactorily and at one time. |
