<p>PURPOSE:To correctly discriminate traveling speed at the time of recording even at the time of reproducing at an (n)-fold speed by comparing the threshold of a period in a control signal, which corresponds to a tape speed, and the period of a signal, for which the repeating period of the control signal is divided in correspondence to the speed. CONSTITUTION:Normally, the signal of a control head 6 is stored through a divider 8 to an address TCTL of a memory 12a by the signal of the (n)-fold speed reproducing, for example, of a reproducing/special reproducing switcher 9. In a threshold selecting circuit 12b, the present traveling speed and the three types of speeds S2H, S4H and S6H in the memory 12a are compared and the present speed is sent to processing operation 26, 27 and 28. First and second thresholds to correspond to the three types of the speeds, which are stored in an external memory 15, are fetched and put into addresses T1 and T2 of the memory 12a. Then, in a recording speed discriminating circuit 12c, the period of the control signal at the present traveling speed and the first and second thresholds are compared and the present speed is judged. Thus, the traveling speed can be correctly discriminated at the time of the recording.</p> |
