The invention relates to a process for joining (connecting, bonding) ceramic bodies (2) to other bodies (3), in particular of highly heat-resistant materials, and the composite body (1) thus formed. For this purpose, the ceramic body (2) is joined to an intermediate part (4) of nonferrous metal, in particular aluminium, by frictional welding. On the other side, the intermediate part (4) is joined to the other body (3), preferably by frictional welding or by other means. For the joining by frictional welding of the ceramic body (2) to the intermediate part (4), the intermediate part (4) is mounted in the frictional welding device with an overlap, the chuck (6) projecting over the frictional surface (8). As an alternative, the intermediate part (4) can also have a larger frictional surface (8) than the ceramic body (2) which penetrates through this during frictional welding and becomes surrounded by a collar-shaped build-up. <IMAGE>
