Tensioning device for a chain drive

An oil pump driven by a crankshaft by way of a chain is connected by its cover to the engine block of an internal combustion engine by way of a mounting. The mounting and a retaining bracket for a slide rail, rotatably fixed on the said retaining bracket and serving as chain tensioning device, are integrally formed on the cover of the oil pump - as is also an axial piston damper. Unfiltered hydraulic oil is fed to the damper by way of an outlet gap in the oil pump cover without additional hydraulic oil lines from the end face of the gears of the oil pump.
