AZO photoconductor for electrophotography

A photoconductor for electrophotography comprises a novel disazo compound as a charge generating substance. A disazo compound is represented by the following general formula: <IMAGE> wherein, each of Ar1 and Ar2 stands for an aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic heterocyclic group, both of which may have a substituent(s), each of R1 and R2 stands for an hydrogen atom or an alkyl group or an aryl group, a heterocyclic group which may have a substituent(s); and Cp stands for a coupler residual group.
