PURPOSE:To obtain a non-aq. polymer dispersion useful for a paint which is of low pollution type and does not damage an under-coating and with which a thick coating can be performed by carrying out non-aq. polymn. of a monomer mixture wherein a fluoroolefin and a vinyl monomer contg. a hydroxyl group are essential components in a specified org. solvent in the presence of a specified dispersion stabilizer. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a fluoroolefin copolymer [I] contg. hydroxyl groups by using a fluoroolefin and vinyl monomers contg. a hydroxyl group as essential monomer components and, if necessary, other copolymerizable monomers, non-aq. dispersion polymn. of said monomer mixture is performed in an org. solvent which does not dissolve said copolymer [I] in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer soluble or swellable in this org. solvent. As the dispersion stabilizer, e.g., copolymers obtd. by copolymerizing fluoroolefins with vinyl esters of aliph. monocarboxylic acids contg. a 4-17C alkyl as the main components and, if necessary, other vinyl monomers copolymerizable with these monomers can be suitably used. |
